Red Faction naar het witte doek
Door Robbin van Schagen op 03 April 2010, Nieuws - Bron: CVGEn weer valt er een spel ten prooi aan de grillen van Hollywood. Dit maal wordt Red Faction: Guerrilla geslachtofferd.
De film moet samen met een nieuwe Red Faction-game uitkomen, aldus de vicepresident van THQ Danny Bilson. Het is allemaal deel van THQ's nieuwe trans-media strategie, waar een titel dus op verschillende media verschijnt."What you're going to see from us in how we're going to see original IP is going to be different. We're going to be doing the most robust trans-media plays anybody's ever seen in the games business. Other companies are, 'oh, we just license this IP to this studio' and you never see anything, or at the most you see some bad Mario Bros. movie. Nobody has ever made it work."
Bilson heeft er in ieder geval vertrouwen in, maar de concurrentie is groot met titels als Bioshock en Uncharted die ook de stap naar de bioscoop gaan maken. Ik kan me in ieder geval wel een Martiaanse Vin Diesel voorstellen, die de EDF de koppen inslaat terwijl hij lustig sproeit met afgezaagde oneliners.
Maar nee, volgens Bilson niets van dat alles. De Red Faction-film wordt kwaliteit.
"My game is going to get made either way but what I do is I'm giving these movie guys the opportunity to meet me two or three years at the end with a triple-A, awesome game and a triple-A, awesome movie that compliment each other - and certainly don't repeat each other - and start to build a world and a fiction and all of that."
